LidaGrayson&Doug_513x306There are so many different facets involved in evaluating a student’s social, emotional, and intellectual needs in order to identify the best school fit for the student. Although Lida’s experience as a classroom teacher in both public and private schools and her background as a school counselor provide her with many of the tools that are needed in educational counseling, she feels that a team approach to working with students with any type of special needs is the most successful. With the parents’ permission, Lida and Grayson reach out to the other professionals who have been working with the student. This helps them get a thorough profile of each child’s needs in order to be successful in an educational environment. These professionals might include psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational and speech therapists, and teachers at the student’s current school. Lida believes that an integral part of their jobs as educational counselors is to help parents clearly understand their child’s needs and to develop an educational program that will best suit the family as a whole, as well as the individual child.

Lida and Grayson work with many other professionals to help create a team approach for students who need more than just educational counseling. Please ask for referrals to psychologists, psychologists, counselors, occupational therapists and tutors. It is their genuine goal to help families find the “right” professional to work with each unique child.
