Many of my clients are exhausted and burned out by their senior year. Although it has always been the norm for students to enter college the fall after graduating from high school, this may not be the healthiest option for some students.

I think it is important to consider a gap year if the student is overwhelmed by even the thought of embarking on his or her college experience. The best case scenario for taking a gap year is for the student to commit to the college of his or her choice and then request a deferral from the college. This way the student can enjoy the benefits of a break in his or her education knowing that the difficult task of applying to college is complete.

I really enjoyed this article I read from myAJC. If you think your child might benefit from a gap year, please let me know, and we can consider it was a possible option.
